When a refrigerator stops, the clock starts

Refrigerator not cooling, leaking or icing up? We repair every major brand in homes and businesses across Tampa Bay, quote a flat price before any work, and cover the repair for 90 days, parts and labor. Call (813) 822-5910.

A closed refrigerator keeps food safe for about 4 hours once it stops cooling, and a full freezer holds for about 48. That is why we treat a fridge that is not cooling as the most urgent call of the day. We send our own technicians, not subcontractors, the trucks carry the parts that fail most often, and most refrigerator repairs are finished on the first visit.

What it is doing, and what usually causes it

SymptomMost common causes we find
Not cooling at allDirty condenser coils, a failed start relay, a condenser fan that stopped, or a compressor problem
Freezer cold, fridge warmFrost blocking the evaporator because the defrost heater, defrost thermostat or defrost control failed, or an evaporator fan that quit
Water on the floor or under the crisperA frozen or clogged defrost drain, or a cracked fitting on the water line
Ice maker stopped or makes small cubesWater inlet valve, a clogged filter, a freezer running too warm, or the ice maker assembly itself
Loud buzzing, clicking or rattlingA fan blade hitting ice or debris, a struggling compressor, or a relay clicking on and off
Runs all the timeCoils packed with dust, a worn door gasket letting warm air in, or a failing sensor

The table is a starting point. The real cause is confirmed on site with a full diagnosis before you are asked to approve anything.

Brands

We service every major residential refrigerator brand sold in Tampa Bay, including Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, GE, GE Profile, Café, Monogram, Frigidaire, Maytag, KitchenAid, Amana, Kenmore, Bosch, Electrolux, Fisher and Paykel, Haier, Hisense, JennAir, Thermador, Miele, Dacor and Bertazzoni. See all brands we repair.

Built in and luxury refrigerators such as Sub-Zero, Viking, Thermador and Miele get original manufacturer parts only, never aftermarket. When you call about one of these, we confirm parts availability before we book the visit so the first trip is not wasted. Whirlpool built models are covered on our Whirlpool page.

Garage refrigerators in Florida

A Tampa garage in July regularly sits between 95 and 105 degrees, and many refrigerators are not built to run reliably near 110 degrees around them. A garage fridge can look fine while the compressor runs nonstop and wears out early. We repair garage units the same way as kitchen units, and the technician will tell you plainly if the garage itself is shortening the life of the appliance.

Parts we replace

Defrost heaters and thermostats, temperature sensors and cold controls, evaporator and condenser fan motors, start relays and overload protectors, water inlet valves and tubing, ice maker assemblies, door switches, gaskets and hinges, control boards, and drawers, bins and shelves.

Repair or replace?

It depends on the failure, the brand and the age. A repair on a 20 year old refrigerator can make complete sense, and some repairs on a 4 year old unit do not. After the diagnosis you get a straight answer, including when replacing it is the better use of your money.

Refrigerator repair questions

What does the refrigerator service call include?
The $99 service call covers the visit, a full diagnosis and a flat repair quote. If you go ahead, the $99 is credited toward the repair, not added on top. If you decide later, within 35 days, it still counts toward that repair.
Do you repair refrigerators still under the manufacturer warranty?
If the refrigerator is inside its original manufacturer warranty, call the manufacturer first because they may cover the repair. Once that warranty has ended, or if you have a third party extended warranty, call us.
Is there a warranty on your refrigerator repairs?
Yes. Every repair we complete has a 90 day parts and labor warranty. If the same problem returns within 90 days, we come back at no charge.
Do you work on garage refrigerators?
Yes, and in Tampa it comes up often. We repair garage refrigerators and freezers the same as indoor units, and we tell you if the heat in the garage is part of the problem.
How long will my food stay safe?
About 4 hours in a closed refrigerator and about 48 hours in a full closed freezer. Keep the doors shut until the technician arrives.
