Microwave running but not heating?
Microwave running with no heat, sparking, buzzing or not responding? We repair built in, over the range and combination microwaves across Tampa Bay, and tell you plainly when a repair is not worth it. Call (813) 822-5910.
Microwaves hold high voltage inside even when unplugged, so a careful diagnosis by a technician is the safe way to find the fault. The visit tells you what failed, what the repair costs, and whether repairing this model makes sense.
Common microwave problems
| What it is doing | What it can point to |
|---|---|
| Runs, light on, food stays cold | A fault in the high voltage heating circuit, a door switch, or a control problem |
| Heats on and off | A failing component in the heating circuit or a control fault |
| Sparks inside | Damaged cavity surfaces, food buildup, exposed metal, or a component problem. Stop using it until it is checked. |
| Buzzing or grinding | Turntable motor, fan, or a heating circuit part under strain |
| Turntable stopped | Turntable motor, coupler or roller ring |
| Dead or will not take commands | Door latch and switches, a fuse, or the control board |
Over the range and built in units
Many Tampa Bay kitchens have over the range microwaves, built in models, or microwave and wall oven combinations. These take more work to reach than a countertop unit, so we plan the repair around the installation. They are also usually better candidates for repair, since replacing them means reinstalling as well.
Repair or replace?
A basic countertop microwave rarely justifies a repair. A built in, over the range or combination unit often does, depending on age, model and parts availability. If replacing is the better choice, you hear that from us before any money is spent on parts. For the oven side of a combination unit, see oven repair.
