A few Lithia jobs from 2026
- February: freezer not cold enough, at 18 degrees. The air damper control had failed, so cold air was not circulating correctly. The damper control was replaced and the airflow rebuilt.
- March: microwave running but not heating. The magnetron and diode had failed. A magnetron kit, including the diode, was installed.
- May: refrigerator freezing everything, 25 degrees in the fresh food section and minus 20 in the freezer. The control board was misreading a sensor and running the compressor nonstop. The sensor and board were replaced, and a surge protector was recommended for that outlet.
- July: cracked ice bin on a Whirlpool side by side. A large chunk of ice had formed in the bin, and when the auger tried to turn it, the bin cracked. The ice container was replaced.
Ice dispenser tip
If you do not use the ice dispenser for a week or two, cubes fuse into one block in the bin. When you finally press the lever, the auger strains against it, and that is how bins crack and auger motors burn out. Empty the bin and break up clumped ice every week or so, or switch the ice maker off when you are away.
