Door seal and hinge problems
Sub-Zero doors are heavy. Over time the hinges stick or sag and the gasket stops sealing, which lets in warm, humid air. In Florida that air turns into frost and condensation quickly.
Defrost and water leaks
A failing defrost heater or defrost thermostat lets ice build up on the coil. When it melts, water ends up inside the fresh food section or on the floor.
Not cold enough

Keep a Sub-Zero running well
- Vacuum the condenser grille at the top or bottom of the unit every few months.
- Close the doors firmly and check the seal with a dollar bill. If it slides out easily, the gasket or hinges need attention.
- Replace the water filter on schedule.
- Have the ice machine descaled at least once a year in hard water areas.
