Report by Sam Ralin, owner and senior technician

A Samsung dryer in Apollo Beach kept shutting off with an HE code, which Samsung uses for overheating. The vent had already been worked on, and the dryer still would not run.
The technician found water inside the dryer. It had reached the blower thermistor, the sensor that reads exhaust temperature, and shorted it, so the dryer thought it was overheating. There was also moisture in the blower housing and standing water in the vent duct between the dryer and the wall. A new roof vent had recently been installed by another contractor, and rain was most likely getting into the vent system there.
He replaced the thermistor and the HE error cleared. Because water was still in the system, he recommended drying and cleaning the dryer and blower housing and having the roof vent checked. Otherwise the new sensor can fail the same way.
